Coordinators

Gina Hylton Fundraising Coordinator & Compound Lead

I am very excited to get this new season started and look forward to seeing all the returners and meeting new faces! I am the Race Compound Coordinator and will be at the start and end of every one of our races throughout the season.  This year I will also be fundraising for WeRock so we can look toward expanding this amazing program and making sure that every child that wants to participate can! I spend my Saturdays running alongside everyone and am truly inspired watching these kids grow.  I cannot wait to see what WeROCK will do for your family – it will change your lives!   Please stop by the Compound to introduce yourself and say HI.

What is my history with WeROCK you may ask?

I started coaching kids 17 years ago when Tyler, my eldest son, participated in the Students Run Los Angeles (SRLA) program out of DJAMS. Josh, my youngest son, ran his first marathon the first year of WeROCK and I have been a part of WeROCK as a Coach and volunteer since.

It’s always fun to hear a coach’s race history

I have run numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons and 5 full marathons.  I plan to run my 6th marathon this season…see you on the trails!

Hi to all the wonderful parent volunteers, coaches, and our inspiring student runners!  As the aid station coordinator, my goal is to encourage all parents to get involved with our Saturday practice runs and cheer on our runners as they achieve a new milestone every Saturday for the next 7 months.  WeROCK is grateful to all of those who volunteer their time, energy and encouraging words.  We couldn’t do this without you.

My history with WeROCK

Several years ago, I encouraged my son to join this running program called Students Run LA (SRLA) where I met Coach K as an energetic and passionate parent volunteer with a dream!  My son was not thrilled to run a marathon but wanted to be part of something great, so he teamed up with Coach K and provided Saturday bike support to all the student runners including his mom! It was my first marathon. 5 years later, my daughter joined the WeRock team.  I volunteered and finished 3 marathons with my daughter.  She will forever be known as a Legacy Runner at her middle school. What an accomplishment!  Fast forward 3 more years, my daughter moved onto Cross Country in High School, but I continued to volunteer as the aid station coordinator and the (unofficial) Saturday sweeper.  This is a wonderful program, and I am grateful to be part of this amazing WeROCK family.

It’s always fun to hear a coach’s race history!

Before WeRock, I was proud to be a short distance runner and formed a small running club at my workplace.  We ran during our  lunch hour and participated in local 5ks and 10ks.  With the support of WeRock and Coach K, I have completed 8 full marathons (and counting) and several 1/2 marathons.

My favorite race that WeROCK will run

My favorite race is the Surf City 1/2 marathon.  We are halfway through the training program and the crowd is energetic with the Super Bowl Fever!

youth cheer teams in preparation for professional competitions.
This year I plan to join your runner and complete the OC Marathon!

Favorite WeROCK event

Being one of the most pinnacle races of the season, my favorite WeROCK event is the 20-mile
qualifier. It is exciting to see your runners true grit as they conquer and cross the finish line.
I look forward to seeing you all at the starting line this year!
