Ana Astorga Assistant Coach
Hi. My name is Ana Astorga, I am so excited to continue being part of WeROCK. I was introduced to the program when my daughter joined WeROCK five years ago. After running a couple years alongside the kids as a parent runner, I was honored with the opportunity to help as an assistant coach at Don Juan Avila Middle School. This year I will start a new season at a new school campus, Aliso Viejo Middle School. I can’t wait to start my third year as an assistant coach of this amazing program!
IT’S ALWAYS FUN TO HEAR A COACH’S RACE HISTORY!
I was never a sports person. I learned to love running when my daughter joined the program and since then I have been running various races including some ultramarathons. My friend and former WeROCK coach, Lori Robinson, thought that it would be fun to run a 50K race to celebrate my birthday 4 years ago and little did I know, I had agreed and completed the race. After that I completed some other races including: 50M and 100K races within a year. My ultimate goal was to complete a 100m race which I did successfully in May, 2017. You want to know how I did it? My answer is… watching the WeROCK kids crossing the finish line at the OC marathon made me believe that anything is possible. These kids inspire me every single day of my life!
MY FAVORITE RACE THAT WEROCK WILL RUN DURIN THIS SEASON IS…
The 20m. Qualifier, is my favorite event to run with the kids. They prove to themselves that they are able to accomplish what they previously believed was impossible. They prove to themselves that they are ready to cross the finish line at the OC Marathon! Go WeROCK!
